In collaboration with colleagues at THE Ohio State University, U. Texas-Austin, Boston College, and CEA Grenoble, we are working to establish structure-property relationships for the thermal conductivity of layered crystals with highly anisotropic thermal and electrical transport. We use time-domain thermoreflectance to study the anisotropic thermal conductivity of individual exfoliated crystals with an intial focus on germanane (GeH) and black phosphorous. We are using impulsive and spontaneous Raman scattering to measure the frequencies of zone center optical phonons, elastic constants, and phonon density of states.
